About the Campaign
Each year, #YALIServes calls on African individuals like yourself to honor the legacy of Nelson Mandela through acts of community service in their area. Nelson Mandela worked tirelessly throughout his life to give back to his community, his country, and all of Africa. This year, I pledged to do the same.
Throughout the week of July 18, #YALIServes is asking all young African leaders to organize or attend a community service event in their community. Community service acts through #YALIServes will benefit not only you, but the community and world around you. As part of this initiative, amongst various challenges facing the community of Bulawayo, this campaign identified prevailing power cuts as the most precarious. The campaign is anticipated to be inform of an educative event that will cover topics including but not limited to;
- Effects and solutions to power cuts.
- Safety upkeep during periods of load shedding.
- Coping Strategies and Alternatives to load shedding.
Various stakeholders and participants including students, civil societies, NGOs, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) as well as Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are expected to pitch in. Donations in form of or towards procurement of banners, t-shirts, refreshments and the venue would be greatly valued and appreciated.
