Children’s Hospital Ward Supplies & Renovation Projects

The UBH Hospital children's unit project will necessitate the complete renovation of the fabric of the department and the purchasing of new equipment and hospital supplies. This is where we require your assistance. We are requesting you to sponsor and to attach your name and prestige to this humanitarian project and to help enable us to complete the children’s ward project to the expected regulatory standard. Your prominence in Zimbabwean society and their leadership in community governance would do much to ensure the success of this worthwhile undertaking and encourage others to follow your lead. We are further requesting you to sign post us to more sponsorship for this important project. Your sponsorship would underscore and reinforce this commitment to those less fortunate.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all those who joined us at our last Mpilo Hospital Bulawayo Ward B6 infectious ward renovation project.
As you are aware this project was a resounding success as a results of your participation. I hope you have had a chance to see all  the images of the completed ward  taken during  the renovation process and the handover ceremony day.

Without further ado, may I take this opportunity to draw your attention to our new project where I have adopted a Children’s Ward at the United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) which was closed in 2005. We will be holding a Fundraising Dinner Dance organised for the 15th December 2018 and therefore would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend this event or donate towards this good cause.

The hospital we are fund raising for requires a private company to do water proofing and there is a gap for constructing a play room for the children. All the above-mentioned issues need financial budget.

With this in mind we invite you to give support to our latest project: The complete renovation and re-opening of the Paediatric Ward at the United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) which has been closed for more than a decade since 2005.

Our focus is on the needs of the children and infants up to the age of 12 who have been without adequate medical support for all these years. The department will accommodate 44 inpatients: 34 beds will be for children and 10 beds for accompanying parents. Whilst much of the work will be undertaken by volunteers we will require the services of skilled manpower such as builders to undertake waterproofing, construction of a playroom and  electricians etc to meet the required professional standards.  You might ask “How do we know we can achieve all this? The answer is simple, with your help and of the Corporate world we’ve done it before and have much experience in project management.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Recently we handed over a completely renovated and equipped B6 infectious ward at the Mpilo Hospital. This had been dilapidated to an extent that patients were dying from the infections they got from the ward. The project was 90% funded by myself Dumisani Moyo based in the UK as well as other well-wishers. We also had donations from ZB Bank, Chicken Inn, Bathroom Boutique and Halsted’s Brothers. Please visit the attached website to see our work: I hope this will inspire you to support us in our next Children’s Ward Renovation Project

NEW PROJECT DETAILS

The Paediatric department project will necessitate the complete renovation of the fabric of the department and the purchasing of new equipment and hospital supplies.

We encourage young people to get into community voluntary programmes to keep themselves busy, gain skills and experience which could lead to either formal or self-employment. This then develops into changing mind-sets programmes that are carried out through mentoring people of all ages about the value of ‘buying into community support programmes. In the last Mpilo Hospital programme, our volunteers gained the skills they need and the team bonded well in the process.

We are also planning a programme to bring back doctors in the Diaspora  who previously worked in this hospital, to come and volunteer their services and give back to the humble community which shaped their destinies most of whom are now consultants in various aspects.

Children are vulnerable and cannot help themselves but together as a community we can assist them and their families to become healthy contributors to the Zimbabwean society. We always wish to help the disadvantaged within the community and to become an amplified voice of the community.

The regeneration of the UBH Children’s Hospital paediatric ward must start with local community efforts assisted by prestigious national organisations. We are trying to encourage individuals and local businesses to take their responsibility seriously and to give back to the community. We are very positive you can assist and also put us in contact with various potential donors.

Our groups cannot be sustained without the involvement and support of all stakeholders. We will work with the community and statutory organisations to better address the gaps and serve as a conduit in making links that no longer ostracise the community but are inclusive of the community.

A call to serve is fulfilling. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has”. Margaret Mead)

We hope you will join us in our endeavours.

Kind regards

Dumi Moyo
